Digital Tribulations, 1. A Pilgrimage in South America

I have always found it quite reasonable to think that the large-scale use of do-it-all machines produces collective value that deserves to be fairly distributed. In my cyborg anthropology, citizens, now emancipated thanks to the reprogrammable infrastructures that they always carry with them, are economically supported by the state to be able to contribute to the management of public affairs. Constantly reeducated by the informational reverb they feed on, like arendtian Greek aristocrats they move into action to fulfill themselves in the public sphere.

Interrupting Codes and Identities: Exhibition Review

There is something mesmerizing about the artworks currently exhibited at POST Arnhem. In the exhibition ‘Embodied Encryption’ you will find weirdly morphing videos of deepfake drag performances, abstract closeup visualizations of motherhood based on poetic scripts, and gender non-binary portraits generated from archive paintings of the Qajar dynasty. However, the exhibition in general does not come across as conceptually complex or abstract as this may sound.

La Inteligencia Artificial frente al Derecho Europeo: Primera charla de alumni para los ayudantes del Programa  

En octubre se llevó a cabo la primera sesión del ciclo de charlas de alumni de los diplomados del Programa de Derecho, Ciencia y Tecnología UC, dirigido al equipo de ayudantes del Programa, instancia que busca profundizar en los desafíos actuales del derecho y las nuevas tecnologías.  

En esta ocasión, contamos con la visita de María Francisca Marchessi, abogada UC, LL.M. en Law and Technology por King’s College London y exalumna del Diplomado en Derecho e Inteligencia Artificial UC (2021).

In ihrem Vortrag bei „vhs.wissen live“, dem bundesweiten Online-Format der Volkshochschulen mit hochkarätigen Vorträgen aus Wissenschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft, erläuterte bidt-Direktorin Ute Schmid, wie Künstliche Intelligenz zunehmend unseren Alltag und unsere Arbeitswelt verändert – sei es in der medizinischen Diagnostik, in der industriellen Produktion oder im privaten Alltag. Das Vertrauen in KI-Systeme variiere hierbei jedoch stark, so Schmid.

El miércoles 12 de noviembre el Programa de Derecho, Ciencia y Tecnología UC recibió al investigador Wayne Wei Wang, especialista en gobernanza de inteligencia artificial en Asia. Su charla titulada “The AI Laws in China: Retrospective and Prospective”, ofreció un recorrido detallado por la estructura normativa, los instrumentos sectoriales y los debates jurídicos emergentes en torno al desarrollo y regulación de la IA en China.
